Portobello Beefsteak

Some raw diet recipes are so easy, so simple, quick and easy. Their gourmet and perfect for beginners at the same time. It's even hard to imagine it isn't cooked when you see and taste it. Recipes like these really make you wonder why not everyone is on a raw food diet these days!

The main ingredient is portobello mushroom. They have more potassium than a banana and 1 mushroom (100 gram) 25% of the RDA in selenium.

Try to get organic or wild mushrooms if you can...

Portobello mushrooms are great in raw diet recipes. They can be used in place of meat in sandwiches, lasagna, soups and more. Try this simple raw recipe.


Portobello Mushroom Steak

Ingredients

Serves 2

2 Portobello Mushroom
2 tbsp olive oil
Sea salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Wipe off the mushrooms with a paper cloth or mushroom brush (don't use water).

  2. Toss all ingredients together in a bowl. Mix well.

  3. Let marinate for 5-10 minutes.

  4. Put in a dehydrator, (hot air) oven (max 50C/120F degrees), in the sun or on your (heated) radiator for about 1-2 hours or until tender.

  5. Eat immediately (great when still warm)

  6. It's that easy! Enjoy.

Tips

  1. If you serve it warm, it's like having a cooked dish!

  2. You may serve as is or you could add some marinated onions, chopped tomato cubes, parsley for decoration.

  3. Next time try adding raw tamari (gluten free soy sauce), garlic, lemon and or cayenne pepper to the marinade.

  4. Potassium is an alkaline mineral. Foods rich in potassium help maintain normal heart rhythm, balance fluids, and protect muscle and nerve function. Potassium-rich, low-sodium foods may also reduce the risk of high blood pressure and stroke, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

  5. Selenium is an antioxidant and a component of several essential enzymes. Health benefits of selenium are partly explained by its antioxidant effect. Selenium may delay or prevent the onset of cancer and also have anti-aging effect. Selenium is also an important mineral needed for proper thyroid function. It also promotes immunity system.
